Western Digital Shuts Down Facility Due to Floods

Serve flooding in Thailand has caused Western Digital to shutter its manufacturing facilities in Bangkok for an undetermined amount of time.
“The flooding is causing problems with the region’s infrastructure, including transportation and utilities, and has resulted in the inundation of some supplier facilities and employee homes,” Western Digital announced in a statement released today.
Western Digital stressed that conditions are changing rapidly, and the extent of the damage and duration of the shutdown cannot be properly assessed at this time. Any protracted shutdown will likely lead to a supply shortage next quarter.
The company will provide further updates on the situation during a conference call on Wednesday, October 19.
